High-quality, commercial-grade light strings have 16AWG wire, medium base sockets and spacing of 24" between sockets.
PVC encapsulated sockets with brass inserts/contacts are resistant to UV sunlight exposure.
Soft socket lips are designed to ensure a tight weather-resistant seal around bulbs.
